A Weekend Suite Makeover!

Hello everyone,

I've been super busy this weekend giving my groundfloor suite a makeover. Before the transformation it lacked life, chicness and style, sticking with the same old furniture and theme of 1920's glamour. It was far from it, I have to admit. Typically I forgot to save a picture of my old suite, but here's one of the almost finished one now!

I don't call myself an artist or designer, however it certainly went wayyy beyond my expectations. It really shows how hard work really pays off! Hope you like the new suite-I'm hoping to revamp some more of mine in the future- when I have the time and sd though.

Interview with Mafi07!

Today I'm interviewing Mafi07. She's an amazing designer, with an amazing suite and a wardrobe to die for! I caught up with her.... here's what she had to say:

How long have you been on stardoll for?

I have been on Stardoll for four years. Two years on my current account, Mafi07 and two years on a previous account.

What is your favourite activity to do the site?

Well, I enjoy various activities here. My favourites are dressing up my doll, editing her at the beauty parlour, designing clothes, collecting rares and browsing the Star Plaza to see and buy some cute outfits. I like to chat with my friends and post in clubs as well.

You own many amazing items of clothing in your suite, which is your favourite?

My favourite clothing item in my suite is a black DKNY dress. I love the brand DKNY on Stardoll and real life

Do you have a certain style, which fashion icons inspire you?

I don't really have a certain style or fashion. I like to create my own unique outfits by layering clothes and adding accessories.

Interview With Tiff_Forever

Today I’m interviewing Tiff_forever, winner of the ’30 followers contest’. She’s a busy girl who’s earned 17 gamer trophies and also owns her own blog! I caught up with her got to know more about Ally!

Hey Ally, how long have you been on stardoll for?
I have been on stardoll for quite a while actually, I found out about it in 2007 or 2006, I had an account called 'aliwalliwoo' and it got about 900 starpoints before I left it. It got deleted due to not using it, and then in 2009 I came back with an account called 'ally'.frog'.  That also got deleted due to inactivity. Then I got my current account a long with a lot of others, and the only reason I use this account, is because i accidently made it ss (using the 1 pound deal, via my mobile) and decided to keep going with it.

Cool!, How did you find out about the site?
I found out about this site via my friend (Hannah) I remember it well. Myself Hannah and Geo
rgina were at Hannah’s house and she showed us Stardoll and we were like WOW! I am pretty sure Hannah's account was called Hannah...girl or something like that but it has been deleted, I even remember what the pass was!

I noticed you’re a very fashionable girl! What is your favourite item in your suite?
Why thank you Georgie , my favourite item has to be my 'LE Lime Ray Halter' and that is NOT because it is LE. I personally don't collect any sort of 'rare' item. I like the halter because it goes lovely with nearly any colour high waisted skirt!

What advice could you give to give to others who want to develop their own style x
My advice for people who want to develop their own style would be to layer and accessorise. I would advise layering clothes, so it looks different to how other people wear it and it looks unique. also accessories are vital, if you only have black ,white or grey clothes, you should add very bright accessories. One more thing wear clothes differently, like wear a skirt as a top or a dress as a skirt.

Acheiving Your Dreams: How To Be... The Ultimate Writer

Hello readers,
Today is the second post of a four part special, designed to arm you with the tips you may need to achieve your stardoll dreams. Todays post is all about becoming a well known stardoll writer. Over the years many oridinary members with a writing talent have gone from unknown to writing for the official stardoll blog! Here are my tips for getting into the buisness!

Apply, Apply, Apply!

Any blog any subject just apply. Employers are looking for a fresh take on the world of stardoll which comes from an angle. Make your application to fit the quota there looking for and sound professional. Compare your application to others around you, and see what you could improve on for your next one. Rejection will happen, don't take it to heart though.

Posting
Always post regularly. If you don't your at risk of being fired and appear lazy. Make sure you come across as friendly through your words and never use text talk. A good post contains pictures and information which makes the page look eyecatching and interesting. Do your reasearch about the topic, but NEVER copy and paste! You will land yourself in very hot water.

Contacts's
If you have any friends who are well known writers, now is the time to contact them! If you don't know them that well send them a polite message requesting some advice about blogging. They could notify you about positions that have not yet opened or even a temporary spot at their blog. Oppertunities such as this are few and far between though

Agencies

As far as I'm aware there are no known agencies which hire writers :/ Stardoll does need one though. If you own one or know of any please contact me :)

Already got a position?
Keep applying! It's not hard to post for more than one blog. If you do secure another job then stay loyal to the blogs you already work for. If you feel that your getting a bit waylaid with all the positing invest in a good filofax or agenda. If your working for to many blogs and feel exhasted choose the ones tht you enjoy writing for.

Acheiving your dreams: How to be... The Ultimate Model!

Good afternoon readers,
Yesterday I mentioned the new 4 day special on how to acheive your stardoll dreams. Today's post is all about becoming the ultimate model!







Stardoll has helped to produce some of the most amazing virtual models of all time, here's some helpful hints to becoming one...

Looking fabulous:
Non-superstar or even royalty, you can always look fabulous if you put your mind to it. As a girl who knows several agency owners the 'barbie look' often does not bode well with designers looking for models for their fashion line. Try to make your doll original- this includes the clothes it wears. You don't always have to have the most expensive clothes, just aim to present yourself in the best way possible :)

Applying:
Try to apply for every oppertunity possible. The more jobs you apply for, the better chance of you being accepted for something! The key is in the application. If you sound unprofessional, they won't want you. Use formal language and Spell correctly! Rejection is part of the process so when it happens take it with a pinch of salt. It's not that your a bad model, just somebody else was more suited for the position.

Jobs:
From album shoots to fashion lines always be professional and punctual. Usually th information you need will be given to you, however if you have any queries message your employer in a friendly manner. Timing is key, if you have to change your medoll in any way for a shoot then do it asap!

Agency's and clubs:



Getting into an agencyblog/club is hard, staying in it is harder. Agents want girls who can apply and get work. They can be your best friend and open up so many oppertunies for you. A good agent can even help you get your own graphics and portfolio.

Portfolio's:
They're quite simply a record of everything you've done. Making your own makes you look more experienced and professional. From being featured in a scenery to designing work - it all goes in here. Agents can help you create one or simply do it yourself.

Contact's:
If you have any agent/ model friends now is the time to contact them. Friends of friends who can put in a good word for you are a big plus to. It's a good ideas to also know who to contact and the best girls and guys in the buisness.

With these hints under your belt you could become stardolls next great supermodel :)

Away .....

Hello readers,

Sorry for the late post this evening, posting completely slipped my mind until this evening. Today I have been preoccupied with packing for a mini 2 day break to wales tomorrow. Unfortunatly this means I will not be able to post until saturday, however rachellouiseeee and avalible... always make fanatstic post's so your not missing out on much.

I will leave you with a spoiler of some new nail varnishes I found on miss-of-stardoll. They tie in with the new 'zombie' theme that stardoll is briniging us. I'm not a massive fan of the nail varnishes, as I'm not a particularly gory girl. I would consider wearing the blood red colour and the 'ripped fabric' effect varnishes.

Updating The Friend List....

Hello readers,

Today’s post will be all about updating your friend list, requesting and accepting other members into your life. Here's how to do it properly…

Updating:

If you haven't spoken to them or guest booked them in the past 3 months delete! Your friend list says a lot about you. Mine is filled with people I blog with, talk to or have traded with. Go through your friend list and if you can't really remember who they are, delete them. The chances are they won't remember you either, so they won't be offended. Then categorise your friends, it makes your list look more presentable and organised. It may take time, but it's worth it!

Requesting friends:

Flattery and politeness it key. Spell your words properly, and hopefully they'll accept you. Once they are your friend message them from time to time. If your trading/interviewing them be kind not pushy. Remember if you want to advertise to them do it in the best possible manner, or avoid it altogether. Never send a blank friend request, as nobody likes it.

Accepting friends:

Accepting a new friend can be the best decision you made. However if you’re unsure or don’t know the person visit their suite first. It will give you an idea about the member. If you don’t like the sound of them, don’t accept them. Never accept a blank friend request – if she/he can’t make the effort write, they probably won’t make an effort with the friendship.

Hot Buys Bow Platforms

Hello all,

Yesterday Stardoll brought out its latest hotbuy: a pair of gold heeled sandals from pretty in love. At 12sd the shoes are quite good value for your money. I can't say I care very much for the design however, as I wouldn't have anything to wear it with. The pink bow and golden colouring fit's in nicely with the feminine colour scheme we have seen this month. There have been mixed reviews as to where the shoes came from. The majority think they come from topshop but I have to disagree. I don’t think I will be buying this time, despite collecting hotbuys since forever!

What are your thoughts?

Hi rachel, thanks for being interviewed! How long have you been on stardoll?

Hey Georgie! I've been a member of Stardoll since Autumn 2010. It's not very long, but I've come so far with my suite, and I feel like I've been a member for ages!!

You are a writer for Price Tag, what's been your favourite subject to write about so far?

I love writing for Price Tag! My favorite topic to write about is probably makeovers. I love doing makeovers because I get to be creative, and give dollies amazing makeovers! Can I give you a makeover?

Sure! That would be great. I love your section: Rachel's Tips What advice could you give to members of dollywood who want to start blogging.

I'm glad you like Rachel's Tips, as I spend lots of time on those posts! I would say to any dollies out there looking for writing work to get your self out there and let people know you're looking for work. Advertise in your presentation, and ask people if they know any available writing positions. You may get knocked back a few time, but don't give up, you will succeed in the end!

You have a fabulous suite and medoll! What are your style secrets? Thank you!

 My style secrets are: browse the starbazaar section to get any good deals on ELLE, DKNY etc. Also, I would say make sure you doll always looks perfect, and your suite is clean, tidy and looking glam. Apart from that, I would say just experiment and enjoy yourself with fashion!

Which fashion icons inspire you?

My fashion icons are Emma Watson, Mollie King (the Sats) and Una Healy (the Sats)

And finally, what is your favourite item of clothing in your suite?

My fave items of clothing has to be my ELLE dress and Alexander McQueen shoes!! I love them too pieces! The dress is rare, and luckily I got it cheap, and the shoes are just lovely. Thanks for interviewing me Georgie!

Starbazar's - Tricks Of The Trade.

Hello readers,

Today I'm posting about the well known starbazar. A place to find a good deal, rip people off, finding vintage L.E, and sell rares. I love the starbazar as you can find the most unique, cheap and vintage clothes. With these hints and tips under your belt, hopefully next time you can also find your special piece of clothing....

Finding a good deal:

The key is to browse before you buy. You can save so many stardollars it's unbelievable! With antidote starting at 30sd and DNKY at 20 you  can buy the items you want, at a price that leaves your pockets full. The popular designers of stardoll often sell their designs at less than 20 sd. They look amazing and could be sold in starcoins for non ss, but ask nicely! Haggling is a great way to get a good deal, get to know your seller first though! Kindness is the key, nobody's going to sell their clothes for reduced prices if your rude and pushy.

Bidding:
You can find an extrodinary deal if the bidder isn't well known, however set a limit and always think beforehand. Remember you could get the same item at a cheaper price from a starbazar. Getting to know the bidder is a major plus! She/he could notify you about new items that are up for bidding.

                                                                                                                       

Trading:

Getting to know the trader is the best thing, if it's your best friend she's less likely to rip you off. Always have your wits about you, if something doesn't seem right about her/him it's probably not. Reasearch is the best thing you can do before you trade. Check his/her references and safe traders list. You could save yourself a lot of hassle tears and sd.

Interview with StarMinimon

Hello readers,

Over the past week I have been interviewing a girl called Starminimon. For those of you who don't know her she;s a girl with big dreams. Since beginning her stardoll adventure in august 2010 she has opened a modelling agency which provides models with work and experience. Despite being a non-superstar her suite is amazing and filled with various clothes and designs. I got to know the girl a bit better...

What does the word 'Covergirl' mean to you?

It's an acheivement, a title, a hard earned status. Is it worth the stardollars? A frank overview on the topic that's got us tripping over our vintage L.E shoes...

In my opinion covergirl is the status most girls wish for. I am not one of them. Call me mad but it's just not worth it. I'm not spending three thousand stardollars on broadcasts to secure a title. It's only for one day, which seems like a waste. The title is won by the member who get's the most votes/ spends the most on bradcasts. It's just not worth it !

Now I'm not trying to persudae you to my kind of thinking. I spoke to an anonymous stardoll member who told me this. 'Being covergirl is really great, it's like your famous!' It seems some could be thinking this way, however do you rember the covergirls from last week or last month? Probably not. On the plus side though, it seems to be a great acheivement to have and probably makes you feel pretty good to. You will be noticed (not for very long though) and think of the people you'll meet , the guestbook comments and friend requests you will get! Plus your representing Stardoll itself!

I'm not stepping on peoples dreams, just bringing them back into the real world :)

Georgie's Corner! Stardolls Most Stylish...

Hello readers,

After yesterday's post promising to find a stylish suite and member, I hit stardoll ready for some research. There are many suite's I would like to have wrote about, however at a first look I knew this was the suite I was going to feature in my post. teryValentine has an amazing suite which boasts colour, elegance and sophistication. Her medoll is astounding and really is a credit to the girl herself. She has the covergirl look which aspiring elite's wish for. As well as a having a fablous medoll and a suite to die for, teryValentine has an amazing sense of style. She owns many pieces of L.E, DNKY, Antidote , many hotbuys and some rares to. She has her own unique style and doesn't pin herself to an individual brand.

Unfortunatly I will not be posting for the next week and a half, as I am spending my summer vacation in miami! I look forward to writing about august's hotbuys when I get back :)

Georgie's Corner... My Pick Of The Day!

Hello all,

Today whilst shopping in the starplaza an item of clothing caught my eye. An autumn yellow jumper with 'smile' stitched onto the front. It appears to be the focal point of the Moschino tribute and looks divine. Admittantly I wasn't keen on the clothes it was paired with, and wanted some inspiration.  I was clueless on what to wear this bright item with. Eagerly I started scanning the catwalk until I found a girl who had bought the jumper. With the clothes in her amazing suite I pieced together an outift in under 5 minutes. I am no fashion queen , but if you make an outfit with the jumper and post the link underneath , you might find a gift in your suite.

The suite I found all the fabulous clothes in belonged to a girl called winkelhake.

She is an elite who has a passion for fashion. I apologise for the cliche. She owns a suprising amount of L.E and hotbuys. The Jumper was teamed with a DNKY belt and Antidote waterfall ruffle dress.
